The 2012-13 school year is my 23rd year as a special education teacher. All of my teaching experience has been in Mobile County except for one year when I taught in El Paso, Texas.
I have worked in elementary, middle and high schools in Mobile County. I am "highly qualified" to teach special education at every grade level. I have completed a year of doctoral studies in special education at the University of Southern Mississippi.

This is my ninth year as a teacher at Dodge Elementary School. I have worked for eleven years as a special education teacher in the middle school setting and three years in the high school setting. Now that I have taught at Dodge for nine years, I can tell you that elementary school is fun!
My "areas of interest" in special education are children with behavior disorders and special education law.
Teaching is a second career for me. I used to be a news reporter and I worked as a publications editor in Montgomery with the Alabama State Employees Association.
I have one daughter, Lillie, who is in the nineth grade at Murphy High School. We have two cats: Sarafina and Harley, and two dogs named King and Apple. Lillie and I both enjoy reading. Neither of us can imagine a world without books!
My other hobbies include gardening, cooking, and family geneology. I collect cookbooks and autographs of southern writers.
